Golder has anew opportunity for a **ModelingSpecialist** in one of our West Coast MiningOffices (Portland, Tempe, Reno or Denver) for a **Full-Time** position. **Yourprimary responsibilities will include:** + Apply mechanicalprinciples to surface and underground problems using state of the art designand numerical software. + Develop techniques andmethods to create solutions for mechanical issues. + Perform specialistnumerical modeling and simulation in support of engineering projects. + Prepare technicaldocumentation to support analytical and numerical studies. + Be a self-starterand be able to take ownership of project tasks using their technical knowledge. + Contribute to technicalsolutions spanning multiple engineering disciplines **Requirements:** + Masters or PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Mechanical / Civil /Mining Engineering or related field. + 2 to 5 years of relevant simulation or modeling experience; + Experience in numerical analyses for engineering applications; + Experience in developing models drawing on in-depth theoretical understanding of numerical methods including 3D finite difference, distinct element, and finite element; + Proficient in use of commercial codes (such as FLAC, UDEC, PFC, FLAC3D, 3DEC, Map 3D, Abaqus, Plaxis); + Experience with Computer aided design (CAD) software; + Experience with general-purpose scripting/programming is an asset (C , Python, etc.); + Experience in developing complex 3D geometries for numerical modeling purposes; + Related training geotechnical, rock, or mine engineering is an asset; + Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills. + Experience with Microsoft Office software suite (e.g., Word, Excel). + Self-motivated and well organized; + Ability to work in a team environment. + Ability to travel Nationally and internationally. **Your benefits at Golder will include:** + Competitive benefits and remuneration packages + Option to purchase shares in Golder + Employee owned structure - own the business, own the result + Deepen your expertise in a dynamic work environment + Innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary projects + On the job training, mentoring and coaching Renowned for technical excellence, Golder is a leading, global employee-owned engineering and consulting firm with over a half century of successful service to its clients.
