Juvenile Detention SpecialistAnnual Salary:$49,358 - $64,126Deadline to Apply: Until Further NoticePOSITION INFORMATION:Under direction the Juvenile Detention Specialists are responsible for the direct observation, supervision, guidance and general custodial care of juveniles in residence in a secure detention facility and performs related work as required.This is an Open Competitive / Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill on- calland permanent positions at the Washoe County Juvenile Services. Applicant need to be able to workall shifts, days/swing and graveyard.For more information on this position, please see the Job Specification athttps://www.washoecounty.us/humanresources/jobspecs.phpMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral Sciences, CriminalJustice, Human Services, Social Work, or closely related field; OR 1000 hours on-call services as a Juvenile Detention Specialist (On Call); OR an equivalent combination of related education and qualifying experience in a Detention Facility, related Justice program, residential treatmentprogram or in a law enforcement field..LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: * A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment. * A CPR/First Aid certificate is required at time of appointment. * Complete and maintain training and certification in Department approved Defensive Tactics and other training required by the Department..Economics, Child Development, or Psychology may substitute for up to one half of the required experience.
