AmeriCorps VISTA! The VISTA Leader will focus on VISTA recruitment
and retention, creating new professional development opportunities
for VISTA members, and provide resources and support to AmeriCorps
The VISTA Leader will be an essential member of the team for this
growing nonprofit organization. This person will help to support
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation in assisting the Programs and
Events Manager in VISTA recruitment and retention of AmeriCorps
positions by improving and maintaining an applicant database,
updating and dispersing position descriptions, and interviewing
The VISTA Leader will increase the professional development
opportunities offered to VISTA members at the Parks Foundation,
Lahontan Audubon Society, City of Reno, and Envirolution. VISTA
Leaders play a crucial role in providing support to VISTAs through
one-on-one meetings, providing resources throughout service, and
promoting a spirit of service for all VISTA members. The VISTA
Leader will also help improve data collection procedures and
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is a private nonprofit that was
incorporated in 2012 and received its 501(c)(3) determination in
2013. The Parks Foundation protects and enhances our communities'
livability through public engagement, education, and the
sustainability of our parks, open spaces, and trails. Current
programs focus on improving community health and wellness and
developing peoples appreciation for the natural and cultural
history found in local parks. A special emphasis is placed on
increasing access to free programming for low income community
members in order to improve education and health outcomes for
people living in poverty.

Timeline for Service: February 14, 2022 - February 13, 2023
Improve and maintain Truckee Meadows Parks Foundations VISTA
recruitment database and assist in the creation and dispersion of
VISTA service opportunities and VISTA Assignment Descriptions
Improve and implement Parks Foundation VISTA on-site orientations
Research and organize monthly professional development
opportunities for VISTA members at five different nonprofit
Improve and maintain a database to track VISTA performance
Assist in the compilation of the Parks Foundations annual
Provide support and resources to VISTAs within Truckee Meadows
Parks Foundations consortium;
Help update and improve the Parks Foundations sustainability
One year of AmeriCorps or Peace Corps service REQUIRED;
Passionate commitment to Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation's mission
Bachelors degree and/or one year equivalent experience;
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
Exceptional writing skills;
Strong communication skills;
Strong organizational skills;
High degree of initiative and spirit of service;
Preferred: experience recruiting;
Preferred: experience with event planning;
Preferred: reading, writing, and speaking competency in Spanish
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundations VISTA Leader is funded by
AmeriCorps and will serve within the AmeriCorps VISTA program.
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed
specifically to fight poverty. Each VISTA member makes a year-long,
full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit

Compensation and Benefits
In return for their service, AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a
living allowance of approximately $17,403.20.
Upon completion of service, choice of Segal AmeriCorps Education
Award of approximately $6,100 or post-service stipend of
A relocation settling-in allowance of no less than $750 if you are
moving more than 50 miles, and travel allowance based on mileage
may also apply.

Qualified student loan deferment or forbearance.
Non-competitive eligibility for qualified government jobs the first
year after completing service.
Professional development through monthly training, skills learned
in service, and experience in a nonprofit environment.
10 days personal/vacation time and 10 days sick leave.

reimbursement for service-related travel, a casual dress code, and
