Job Description:

The purpose of the Pet Resort Attendant. The pet resort attendant takes care of the everyday needs of patients in the hospital's boarding facility. The pet resort attendant must enjoy working with animals and have a genuine compassion for their care and comfort. This position also has a strong emphasis on cleaning in addition to pet care. There are very specific written protocols to ensure the prevention of the spread of disease from pet to pet and people.Position type and expected hours of work: Part time or Full TimeMonday through SundayWeekend shifts requiredOvertime may be requiredEducation and Experience: High school diploma or equivalentPrevious veterinary or kenneling experience a plus ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Clean cages, runs and common areas area daily.Provide clean litter boxes.Collect urine and fecal specimens as requestedFeed boarding animals as directedFill out boarding forms for every patient. Write any pertinent info on cage cards.Complete Pet Report Cards for every patient for BoardingFollow special feeding/cleaning/care procedures as neededTexts/Call clients with professionalism and poise with photos and updates of their pets'Record and report important information about animals' conditions; alert medical staff when applicableTake incoming animals, weigh them and take to appropriate areas immediately; place weight in CornerstoneExercise animals according to client requested boarding packageProvide compassionate care to patients and always look out for their safetyPrepare animals for dismissal, for example, bathing or brushingDo laundryMaintain storage areas, parking lot, and lawn areaAssist doctors and technicians with animal restraintCleaning of counters and furnitureCleaning of all floorsClean outside entrances, sweep walkways and pick up parking areaEmpty and scrub trash receptaclesNotify facility coordinator and pet resort manager of needed equipment maintenance or inventoryReplenish inventory / stock when necessaryRemove feces from play area after every useComplete all daily, weekly and monthly checklists for your departmentAnswer phones when neededHelps translate (for those who speak Spanish)Performs other duties as assigned All Practice Team Members must be able to lift patients up to 40 pounds alone, and patients over 50 pounds with assistance. I am also able to lift items such as dog and cat food, bags of cat litter, patient's belongings, crates, and other items relating to patients and the animal hospital. Due to the nature of our field, all team members are constantly standing, walking, and lifting most of each working day. I also understand that any deviation from the physical requirements of this position requires physician documentation and may affect my employment with this company should my ability to not perform these duties continue for any significant period.Basic Skills Knowledge of hospital procedures for assembling patient records in their required order and sequence and for recording a variety of orders for patient activities, diet, and treatments in order to maintain an accurate and permanent report of patient information.Strong client service skills.Possession of strong organizational skills.Ability to effectively use all available resources to provide the best patient care as well as ensure the profitability of the practice.Knowledge of the spelling and meaning of commonly used terminology of veterinary medicine to accurately record results of tests and file veterinary medical reports according to alpha, numeric or subject matter headings.Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.Regular attendance and timeliness are essential to fulfill the requirements of this position.Knowledge of hospital procedures and operating instructions for making appointments, assembling patient medical records, recording test results, relaying information regarding patient's condition, and compiling and submitting data on patients treatedPerforms other duties as assigned.Ability to multi-taskCommunication Skills Requires skill in obtaining information from owners to complete records, in giving instructions for scheduling daycare / boarding and activities and in relaying the medical orders concerning animal care and treatment.Ability to communicate well, provide strong leadership and motivation to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals including effectively solving problems, setting performance standards and monitoring performance.Strong communication and client service skills. Considerable tact and diplomacy is required. Ability to greet clients in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.Requires active listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points be made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Requires telephone conversationsRequires use of electronic mailRequires writing letters and memosRequires face-to-face discussions with individuals or team members Social Skills Strong leadership, communication and motivations skills.
