Supervisor of Surgical PreadmissionRequisition id: 160101Department: 200342 Surgical Preadmission ScreeningFacility: Renown Regional Medical CenterSchedule: Full TimeShift: DayCategory: ManagementLocation: Reno , NV Position Purpose Under the direction of the Manager or Director and in conjunction with the Shared Governance Council, this position is accountable for directing and coordinating the delivery of patient care and customer service for pre surgical services. The role of the Nurse Supervisor is to assist in achievement of organizational goals through and with the effort of others. Nature and Scope This is both a clinically and non-clinically focused position that is challenged to maintain well-organized and functioning pre surgical services departments allowing for the enhancement of evidenced based practice and continuity of patient care throughout the pre surgical continuum. The Nurse Supervisor coordinates care and collaborates with other professional disciplines as needed, to optimize patient outcomes. The Nurse Supervisor acts as a role model, resource, and coach to all nursing staff to provide ongoing support for professional development, maintenance of the standards of care, excellent customer service, and quality outcomes. The Nurse Supervisor facilitates professional relationships between physicians, nursing, community medical practices, and other interdisciplinary teams to provide a patient/customer focused plan of care. The Nurse Supervisor requires leadership skills and flexibility to adjust hours to be a resource to all shifts. The Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for engaging the clinical and non-clinical staff to provide evidence based practice and customer care, promoting desired patient outcomes and ensuring that practice is congruent with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Technological advances dictate that the Nurse Supervisor is well versed in procedures common to the departments or unit served. In addition, proficiency in the techniques of leadership and adult learning theories are necessary to coordinate the activities of all health team members, and to maintain positively engaged, competent clinical and non-clinical staff. Other challenges of this position include the ability to recognize dynamics of change and respond appropriately within the context of accepted current theory. Creativity and innovation is expected from the incumbent to help staff function as a high performance work team and to promote staff retention. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and families. The Nurse Supervisor must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meet the standards of quality as measured by the unit/department Competence with Special Populations standard. This position does provide patient care. Minimum Qualifications Requirements Required and/or Preferred Name Description Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. BSN or related bachelors degree preferred, or pursuit of a Bachelors Degree upon hire. Experience: Minimum two years experience as a perioperative RN preferred. License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license. Certification(s): Current AHA BLS certification by American Heart Association standards required. Professional certification preferred. Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
