Responsibilities West Hills Hospital is a 95-bed acute care inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Reno, Nevada, specializing in behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment options for children, adolescents, adults and seniors. We specialize in inpatient hospitalization, drug and alcohol detox, rehabilitation, and provide intensive outpatient treatment for mental health and substance abuse. . Our facility maintains a full-time medical staff of psychiatrists to oversee programs, patients and care. Job Description: Assist the Director of Nursing assumes administrative responsibility for the Nursing Department on a 24-hour basis. Provides support and continuity of effective administrative leadership. Maintains the overall hospital functioning in the absence of the DON. Serves as a resource person and role model by demonstrating professionalism and the ability to use the nursing process in problem identification and problem solving activities. Assists and encourages department personnel in professional growth and development. Maintains continuity of departmental and hospital Policies and Procedures and fosters communications among all departments. Assist the Director of Nursing in contributing to the hospital philosophy, objectives, educational and performance improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the Nursing staff. Ensuring the facility's department programs are in compliance with all regulatory agencies, TJC, and state and federal agencies. Qualifications Job Requirements: Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field required. Masters Degree preferred. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience as a registered nurse and a minimum of three (3) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility. Demonstrated emotional stability, dependability, sound judgement, and a professional attitude. Demonstrated ability to manage people effectively and act appropriately in times of crisis and stress. Have proven clinical competency in Psychiatric Program Development and management and treatment of children and adolescents in an inpatient Psychiatric setting. Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the Nevada State Board of Nursing. Must have a valid driver's license. Certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse preferred. Additional Requirements: Knowledge of TJC, HCFA, OSHA and Patient Rights standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities. Infection Control certification, optional.
