Job Description:

Job DescriptionInsight Magazine strives to become a leading voice for students attending the University of Nevada, Reno and to be informative, conversational and relatable. By publishing students work, both textual and visual, we aspire to be honest, impacting and thought-provoking with our professionally-designed magazine. Our role as a magazine has multiple outlets, in that those who contribute have a rare opportunity to have their thoughts published in actual print, whether it be through words or visuals. We want to offer this experience to as many students as possible, and we also wish to bring this work to as much of the student body and Northern Nevada community that we can, effectively connecting student contributors with a student and professional audience. Students and other citizens alike should be able to use the magazine as a talking point for university issues and to stay informed about the UNR community, including things like entertainment, profiles, music and more. Finally, we are here to explore journalism and to inspire others in that or similar fields. Students interested in writing, photography, multimedia, advertising, public relations and more can use the magazine as a stepping-stone for their careers. The magazine allows students who are interested in the world of publication a way to become familiar with the process of creating a magazine, ultimately providing them with real work experience that will propel them in their respective fields.ThePhoto Editor handles a good portion ofInsight's visualpresenceand aesthetic.Through visual elements, the Photo Editor helps spreadthe organization's story to the public. The Photo Editor is responsible for taking and editing photographs for any online or printed piecethat needsvisual accompaniment(or helping volunteers do the same).Photos must be optimized for both web and printing.ThePhoto Editormust be familiar withphoto editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Bridge andLightroom.ThePhoto Editorshould be creative in their attempts to connectInsightwith the public.
