Position Summary:

The Manager of Substitute Services serves as part of the Substitute Services leadership team, working collaboratively with the Service Delivery Partner, the Academic Services Lead, and the other Substitute Managers, to ensure the delivery of exceptional substitute staffing services to Connections Academy schools through the development of relationships with each of the schools, and by providing substitute staff with exceptional onboarding, training, ongoing support, and advocacy services. The Manager will report to the Services Delivery Partner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Timely hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management to a team of substitute staff

  • Develop and support department initiatives to ensure the effective delivery of substitute staffing services to Connections Academy schools

General Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision:
  • Supervises a team of up 30 substitutes, handling all performance issues and concerns;
  • Assists and monitors substitutes during their placements to ensure compliance with training, handbooks, and the proper implementation of the program requirements;
  • Reviews and submits timesheets to payroll for assigned staff;
  • Ensures staff are maintaining appropriate hours to comply with regulations;
  • Analyzes pertinent reports to ensure substitute compliance while on assignment;
  • Maintains a high level of communication with substitutes, meeting at least monthly, to ensure placement compliance, allow for team collaboration, and to provide support;
  • Conducts performance evaluations for their team of substitutes by providing high-quality written and verbal feedback on a regular basis, including at the completion of each assignment;

  • Substitute Staffing:
  • Hires substitute staff to maintain a high-quality pool to meet the needs of Connections Academy schools;
  • Oversees the effective and successful onboarding of new substitute staff to ensure they are prepared to immediately facilitate student learning during their assignments;
  • Creates, maintains and delivers a robust ongoing training program for substitute staff;
  • Coordinates with the Service Delivery Partner and Academic Services Lead on staffing allocations and staffing strategies to ensure a strong pipeline of substitute staff, hired and trained in a timely manner;
  • Works with the Academic Services Lead and the Substitute Services Leadership Team to support the Lead Substitutes with ongoing training and leadership development;

  • Connections Academy School Support:
  • Develops expertise on school requirements in terms of certification, credentials and clearances;
  • Develops a positive working relationship between the Substitute Services team, and the schools;
  • Oversees the successful selection, placement, and sectioning for each substitute assignment;

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Works with the Services Delivery Partner, Academic Services Lead, and the Substitute Services Leadership Team to develop and deliver department policies and procedures, owning key initiatives within the department;
  • Fosters a culture of community and collaboration within the department;
  • Other duties as assigned

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $60 - 65K. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred);

  • 3 years of teaching experience required (online teaching experience preferred);

  • 3 years recruiting and supervising in an academic setting required;

  • Familiarity with the Pearson Online Classroom preferred;

  • Familiarity with state-specific teacher certification requirements, regulations, and laws preferred;

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills;

  • Flexibility in schedule is required to meet seasonal goals and deadlines;

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines;

  • Strong work ethic, ability to develop positive work atmosphere and motivate staff;

  • Knowledge of and experience in program management, specifically student services, is preferred;

  • Customer-centric mentality required

  • Ability to offer ideas and solutions to support department growth and service delivery;

  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office and Google products);

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Some light travel may be required
