Job Description

Scope of Position:

Manage the movement of cargo from the Port of Oakland into a specific Market Segment including the management of specific carriers and ocean terminals. Maintain a heightened level of service to our customers through efficient timely execution of daily operations and data integrity while exhibiting Expeditors culture.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Owner of Daily Delivery Management Program

  • Updating key statuses as directed
  • Directing carriers on daily activities
  • Working with customs brokers and ocean terminals to ensure cargo is available
  • Communicating status to customers internal and external
  • Responsible for data management to ensure all data in all systems reflects reality
  • Financial management and oversight Empowered to make key decisions and ensure operations are moving within set parameters

Coordinate Customer Deliveries

  • Make sure cargo is delivered as expected
  • Ensure customer expectations are documented, understood and executed

Customer Communication (Internal and External)

  • Primary contact for questions on freight or status updates
  • Goal is to reply within an hour of original request
  • Be able to provide quotes when asked

Exception Management

  • Take the lead on resolving exceptions as they arrive
  • Document root cause of exception
  • Work to ensure preventable issues are not repeated.

Program Development and Improvement

  • Ensure all programs, customers have correctly documented SOPs
  • Collaborate on process improvements to ensure what we are doing makes sense

Be willing to support co-workers in other general logistics tasks as available or assigned

Support Account Management with reporting functions

Daily, Weekly, Monthly customer data and invoice recap reporting

Support cross department functions such as ADD Management, Logging, IT Shipments and Branch EDI resolution

Continually look for process improvements to ensure we are being as efficient as possible

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Type 45 WPM +
  • 10-key by touch a plus
  • Functions efficiently in a high stress environment
  • Genuine curiosity about Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Willing to learn, grow and prosper in a strong company culture
  • Willing to work overtime
