2nd shift Maintenance Tech hours 2:45pm-11:15pm Job summary Serves as an advanced technician in maintenance with a focus on preventative, predictive and routine maintenance. Will troubleshoot issues, repair failures, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness of equipment. Constructs, maintains and tests mechanical equipment, machinery and components. Identifies parts or machines that need new parts or need to be replaced and places orders as necessary. Has the ability to creatively find solutions to keep production lines running. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May occasionally lead and direct the work of others. A substantial degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Essential job functions Repair and maintain production & fabrication plant machinery and equipment such as: CNC Swiss lathes, CO2 & fiber optic lasers, compressors, heat exchangers, hydraulic systems, impulse welders, mechanical presses, PLC controlled equipment, pneumatic systems, pumps, RF welders, etc. in a timely manner. Perform preventative maintenance & work order repairs, inspections and adjustments, and identify machinery and parts that need replacement and/or inventory, and research and submit completed requisitions as necessary. Diagnose, repair or replace control devices such as contactors, motor starters, photo eyes, PLC systems, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, safety systems, switches, etc. as needed. Set up and proficiently operate: drill presses, grinders, hand tools, lathes, mills, power tools, welders and other metal working equipment involved in part fabrication & equipment repair. Fabrication and modification of new and existing equipment. Maintain and repair company vehicles and electrical lifts. Train lower level technicians on proper maintenance & equipment operation procedures. Plant start-up and shutdown procedures as needed. Participates in plant Lock-Out-Tag-Out, safety, health and environmental programs. Skills and Abilities Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills necessary to effectively diagnose and repair basic manufacturing and industrial equipment. Broad knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Must be able to read and work from complex blue prints. Welding, fabrication and machining skills. Able to read and work from electrical schematics and ladder logic. Knowledge of PLC and industrial controls from a maintenance perspective. Ability to follow, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC logic. Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, engineers, and plant managers. Minimum requirements Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate are an asset. Have a minimum of 6 years experience in a fabrication or production facility environment with control, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems troubleshooting & repair, along with their related testing & metering instrumentations. Ability to interpret and create documents, procedures, drawings, and fabricate parts and/or build complex machinery from them. Ability to document detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication is essential. Must be willing to work a changing shift schedule with occasional overtime and on-call support. Meet and maintain company attendance standards. Computer Skills Proficiency with Windows based computer software (MS OFFICE Suite) and use maintenance software (CMMS) to log data, create procedures, and research parts. Signatory Authority TBD Physical requirements This position requires considerable working time in a factory environment, which may include hot, cold, or noisy conditions. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Must be able to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces. Must be able to stand, sit and crouch for long periods, with a considerable amount of walking. Must be able to work on equipment in tight places for long periods. Must be able to maintain CDI attendance policies. Must be able to maintain CDI Safety standards. Working Environment While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to work in or near hazardous locations and in an industrial fabrication environment, with occasional outdoor exposure. Regularly exposed to high noise environments. Routinely work with other departments to accomplish company goals not related to plant maintenance. Respond to the ever-changing needs of production to ensure a high quality product is consistently produced on a limited timeline. Must supply own basic tools of the trade.
