Director of Pharmacy Services- Direct Hire Opportunity ** This job

offer. Our client is a large ~450 bed, level 1 trauma center. This
position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer &
Regional Director of Pharmacy. Totals of 70+ FTE’s in the

Education and/or Experience:
1. Graduate of an accredited U.S. School of Pharmacy.
2. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) .
3. Five (5) years’ experience of relevant experience to include
the management/oversight of pharmacy department operations in a
healthcare environment/acute care hospital setting.
4. Demonstrated working and administrative understanding of
outpatient and inpatient dispensing, clinical services
implementation and management, hospital computer systems, and
Directs daily operations of inpatient and outpatient services.
Consultative oversight over ambulatory clinics.
Pharmacy Leader responsible for medication safety and medication
oversight through leadership and structure created by health system
committees including but not limited to Pharmacy & Therapeutics,
Medication Safety, Medication Error Reduction Plan Committee,
Pharmacy Nurse Practice Committee, Diversion Committee, Quality and
Safety Committees, and Monthly Operating Reviews other related
Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies
for patients according to established policies, procedures, and
protocols. develops and enforces policies and procedures that
promote cost-effective, appropriate and safe medication use;
develops and maintains a medical staff-approved formulary;
supervises medication storage and preparation areas throughout the
enterprise; provides for the educational needs of health care
professionals, patients and their families; ensures maintenance of
an adequate medication supply; ensures strict control and
accountability for medications dispensed to patients or distributed
to floor stock; assures adequate control and documentation of
controlled substances; ensures applicable CE records and licensure
are maintained in department files.
Develops and implements a strategic plan for the pharmacy that
supports the mission and goals of the organization; develops and
implements pharmacy services in collaboration with associated
department services; develops, implements and maintains a program
that improves the quality of pharmacy services, improves medication
use safety, and supports the quality improvement plan of the
organization; participates in all committees/functions required by
the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee;
establishes productive, collaborative relationships with staff
members and within the community
Integrates the department into the organization's primary
functions. Maintain an effective working relationship with a
variety of organizations, including medical, nursing and clinical
staff in other Divisions, County departments, other agencies and
private health care providers.
Prepare cost estimates and justifications for budget
recommendations; monitor and control expenditures to ensure the
accomplishment of objectives within the approved budget.
Manages financial resources, prepares annual budget, reviews
monthly reports, stays within approved budget, approves purchase
orders, check requests, engagement of services forms and knows when
each is used, meets staffing and productivity goals. Negotiate and
administers contracts with outside vendors, consultants or
organizations for services in the Pharmacy.
Maintains clinical and/or professional competency, provides
patient care or professional support in those areas for which
evidence of competency can be provided, serves at the leader of
Pharmacy Services and expert for the Health System in providing
information to the public; enforce applicable clinical standards,
codes and regulations as required.
Plans and manages workflow to meet customer needs, develops
operational plans, develops policies and procedures, determines
proper resource allocation and organizational structure,
coordinates activities with others and communicates plans, trains
staff, takes disciplinary action.

Hours: 40 hrs./week
