Scope & Purpose:This position is directly responsible for
maintaining availability of key IT systems and equipment within one
or more Petco distribution centers. Under limited supervision, the
candidate will provide advanced system support to maintain a high
level of distribution center systems availability. Supported
systems include a wide range of hardware, including complex
warehouse controls, servers, workstations and peripherals, as well
as both custom applications and commercial off-the-shelf software.
Work is completed without regular supervisory guidance, and is
mission-critical to resolve all system issues with immediacy.
Candidate is responsible for making discretionary technical
decisions to resolve issues without supervisory approval, or
escalate to manager or other support teams, if necessary. General
instruction is provided on some, but not all, tasks to be
completed. Essential Job Functions: Through previous background and
experience, the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an
accommodation, the ability to:
- Provide routine and non-routine advanced system support for
software and hardware issues unique to a distribution center (e.g.
Manhattan WMS, pick-to-light, voice picking, sortation controls,
and related reporting systems). Troubleshoot and work directly with
vendors and various IT teams to resolve issues.
- Install and maintain system hardware and software, perform
minor equipment repairs such as printer configuration,
radio-frequency hand held units, pick-to-light, voice picking
equipment, etc. Coordinate more extensive repair services with
outside vendors after troubleshooting via phone. Arrange for
shipment of units as required and maintain adequate systems on-hand
to support the need of DC users.
- Be able to work outside normal working hours. Candidate will
also be required to participate in revolving 24-hour on-call
support with DC support peers. Ability to work long hours and
weekends as dictated by business needs.
- Independently prioritize and schedule a variety of system
support activities. Able to coordinate facility and equipment
moves, including cabling, hardware, electrical, etc.
- Verify data is properly interfacing between systems;
troubleshoot and resolve as needed. Modify data in database tables
as needed to resolve advanced issues.
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements regarding
application availability. Adhere to established IT department
policies and procedures.
- Work with various IT teams and/or DC management to schedule
software and hardware upgrades and/or perform system maintenance,
while minimizing the impact to DC operations.
- Day to day activities include monitoring operations, responding
to trouble tickets (i.e. user access requests, system issues,
equipment issues), and opening of support tickets with our

- Knowledge of Windows servers, IBM servers running AIX and
enterprise databases is also a necessity. Work Environment: Job
duties performed in a warehouse and office environment. Significant
time spent within the warehouse environment where exposure to heat,
cold, dust, dirt, fumes, noise is present. Must be able to climb a
ladder or use a scissor lift to reach ceiling mounted technology.

Education:A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a 4-year
college degree, or the equivalent combination of education and
experience. Technical certification by one of the major network
operating systems is preferred.
