Job Description:
Purpose Of PositionThis position is the primary contact
responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting all
computers, Thin Clients, printers, and software supported by the IT
Division. The candidate must be very familiar with operating
systems, networking, DNS, Internet, email configurations and
telecomm systems. This position is an integral part of the
deployment of workstations, thin clients and associated peripherals
in the network and requires knowledge and understanding of security
policies and procedures for Microsoft Active Directory. Candidates
must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills,
and have the ability to work within a team environment. Excellent
listening and analytical skills are essential, along with the
ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a focused
manner. This is a non-exempt, professional-technical position.Job
Responsibilities & Duties* Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install,
and perform testing activities on various computer equipment,
peripherals, data communication, and computer network systems.*
Assemble, install, configure and test computer equipment or units
of local area networks requiring use of standard interface
protocols.* Complete work orders such as installing equipment,
connecting and moving devices or creating components of autonomous
networks, installing disk drives, correcting definitions on data
switches, protocol converters, etc.* Confer with manufacturer's
representatives, faculty, and staff in determining equipment;*
Consult and assist manufacturer's representatives in the
installation of new computer equipment; exercise total
responsibility for routine installation or modification projects;
assist other technicians or the director in repairing, installing
and testing complex pieces of equipment or local area networks.*
Use computer-aided diagnostics and digital logic devices as needed
to locate malfunctions. Calibrate test equipment for proper
operation.* Develop and maintain software and hardware inventory
and tracking systems; develop inventory lists and order, stock, and
store electronic components* Prepare and submit vendor warranty
claims, parts, and documentation associated with warranty repairs
(with authorization from vendors).* Install cable for the company
computers and phone system. Perform moves, adds, deletes and other
changes for phone users. Set up calling features such as Automatic
Call Distribution (ACD) groups, pick groups, call processing, and
voice mail. Provide phone support and training to new users and
solve miscellaneous phone problems.* Install hubs and switches on
the network; install copper from the IDFs to users' workstation
areas; maintain fiber networks and troubleshoot problems.*
Configure and set up servers to work with various programs; install
software including, but not limited to, MS Operating systems
(XP/Win7), Office Suite, Adobe Products, and Symantec AV Suite.*
Ensure server backups and networked user backups are performed on a
regular basis.* Provide support to users relating to both hardware
and software problems on their personal computers.* Perform
preventive maintenance for computer, data communication, and/or
peripheral equipment; test and adjust to appropriate standards.*
Fabricate cables for use in interfacing peripherals with computers,
other peripherals, and networks.* Maintain computer network
documentation; update computer maintenance manuals.* Attend network
and telecommunications seminars offered by the vendors, and other
providers on new technologies.* Regular and satisfactory attendance
and punctuality.* Perform related duties as
assigned.Qualifications* 2+ years of experience in IT hardware
troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, and performing
test activities on various computer equipment, peripherals, data
communication, and computer network systems.* Previous experience
running cables above ceilings and below decks.* Minimum 3 years of
experience in a warehouse environment* Able to operate a scissor
lift up to heights of 35 feet & comfortable climbing on ladders.*
Able to lift up to 50lbs* Excellent written & verbal communication
skills* A+ CertificationAvailability to work overtime (extended
hours: 10 - 15 hours of overtime)#ZR
