Position Overview: Conducts evaluations and implements medically prescribed physical therapy treatment plans to address movement dysfunction and pain stemming from injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues. Key Responsibilities and Qualifications: PRIMARY DUTIES Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions. Develops, updates, and assesses a care plan tailored to identified issues, involving the patient and their family. Implements therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques appropriate for the patient's condition. Educates patients, families, and staff by evaluating educational needs. Ensures continuity of care by participating in discharge planning with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, providing home instructions, recommending equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as necessary. Supervises the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff. Maintains thorough documentation detailing patient responses to therapy and the necessity for skilled intervention as required by regulatory standards. Operates in a state of constant alertness and safety. Performs additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field necessary for state licensure. EXPERIENCE No prior experience is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand. Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs. Regularly use hearing and speech for effective communication. Frequently distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or malfunctioning equipment. Regularly utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances. Engage in frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry. Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms. Occasionally lift/move patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasionally drive. Rarely crawl. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be required based on departmental needs.
