Job Description The Director of Nursing & Allied Health Division is responsible for oversight of all programs and faculty within the division. In addition, the Director is responsible for program accreditation where applicable. The director is responsible for ensuring effective relationships between NSHE, the college and national accrediting bodies, and state regulatory agencies of all disciplines and programs within the division.This position is located in Carson City, NV on the main WNC campus, but may require driving to other WNC locations to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. The Director participates in several statewide or national meetings each year that may require overnight travel. Ultimate responsibility for program quality and outcomes for all Nursing and Allied Health programs within the division reside within this position.Minimum Qualifications: 1. Master's degree in nursing regionally accredited institution required.2. Three years experience as an administrator of an accredited nursing program at the community college or university level preferred.3. Three years teaching experience at the community college or university level preferred.4. Three years relevant clinical experience in the field of nursing.5. Current license in the state of Nevada as a registered nurse or the ability to meet the qualifications to obtain licensure.6. Credentials, as defined by ACEN and Nevada State Board of Nursing, to serve as the director of nursing programs.7. Understanding of the principles of distance learning and the "career ladder" approach to nursing education.8. Willingness to support the mission, goals, and anticipated outcomes of Western Nevada College.9. Prior experience in curriculum development.Responsibilities: 1. Supervise the development and implementation of the Nursing & Allied Health schedules, clinical placement and assignment of related instructors (full-time and part-time) throughout the WNC service area.2. Work cooperatively with division faculty in scheduling courses.3. Handle hiring of full-time and part-time faculty, evaluation of faculty and review of Nursing & Allied health programs.4. Implement directives/standards of regulatory agencies, including but not limited to: UCCSN, Nevada Legislature, Nevada Board of Nursing, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission.5. Coordinate the Nursing & Allied Health Advisory Boards.6. Serve as liaison between the WNC Nursing & Allied Health Programs and local, state, and national agencies.7. Facilitate accreditation activities at the state and national level.8. Serve as director (90%) and provide various learning experiences for students and licensed nurses (10%), as necessary.9. Coordinate curriculum review and catalog revision on a regular basis.10. Participate in student recruitment, advisement and registration duties.11. Develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships within the college and within the health-care community throughout the WNC service area.12. Provide guidance and assistance to faculty (full-time and part-time) in the Nursing & Allied Health Programs.13. Develop and maintain Nursing & Allied Health Program budget with input from faculty.14. Collaborate in the implementation and continued development of nursing and allied health education via distance learning methods.15. Serve on college and system committees as required.16. Ensure faculty participation in curriculum development, systematic program evaluation of accreditation-related process as required by accrediting agencies.17. Work with the labor unions, private agencies (such as JOIN, JobConnect, etc.), state and federal agencies to meet the education needs of displace, unemployed, and underemployed workers.18. Other responsibilities as assigned. This position is subject to furlough leave--at a--4.6 percent compensation reduction per Chapter 4, Section 20 of the Nevada System of Higher Education Procedures and Guidelines Manual and Title 2, Chapter 5, Sections 5.4.4 and 5.4.12 of NSHE Code. ---Minimum Starting Salary Information:$83,340.00 Exempt-- Yes Full-Time Equivalent 100.0% Required Attachment(s)
