Under the direction of the Director of Palliative Care and Hospice,
this position is responsible for providing palliative care
services. . The Palliative Care Registered Nurse works in
collaboration with the Palliative Care MD's and other Palliative
Care team members to provide comprehensive care and management of
the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of
patients and their families with chronic, debilitating and or
Nature and Scope:
The Palliative Care Registered Nurse, in collaboration with the
Medical Director, referring physicians and interdisciplinary
team(s), provides palliative care consultations as needed for
patients and their families. In addition the Palliative Care
Registered Nurse provides education both informally and formally to
patients, families and all member of the care team, on topics such
as, palliative care concepts and services, death and the dying
process and resources, and approaches to dealing with life limiting
or serious illnesses.
The Palliative Care Registered Nurse participates in program
activities such as: assisting with the development and assurance of
best practices, data gathering, performance improvement,
development of program resource materials, incorporating new
practices and approaches to care. Additionally, the Palliative Care
Registered Nurse will assist with updating policies and procedures
and documentation systems.
Evidence- based nursing practice along with critical thinking
skills, are required to provide optimal and safe patient care. The
Palliative Care Registered Nurse interacts with internal and
external contacts, exercises sound judgment and decision

limited to: radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat,
noise, dust and stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language,
including reading, writing and speaking English. A Master's Degree
in oncology nursing preferred.
Five years experience in critical care and palliative care
Requires a State of Nevada Registered Nurse License. Ability to
obtain and maintain
a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
Valid Nevada driver's license and ability upon hire to pass Renown
Health's Department of Motor Vehicles Report criteria.
Requires current BLS certification by the American Heart
Hospice/Palliative Care Certification preferred, required within
two years of hiring.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook,
PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer
to complete online learning requirements for job-specific
competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online
benefits enrollment, etc.
