Responsibilities
The Strategic Sourcing/Purchasing Director will report into the Director of Operations and will work to develop employees along with executing the purchasing strategy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Supervise members of the purchasing team. Provide guidance and assistance to buyers in resolving disputes with vendors. Identify and develop training opportunities. Lead the purchasing team in on time delivery of scheduled production requirements.
  • Negotiate, write, and administer contracts for commodities and parts pertaining to the business.
  • Develop and implement purchasing program along with contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze existing contracts and identify spend reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with all legal and corporate requirements and forms.
  • Works effectively on project/contracting teams. Measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to management.
  • Controlling cost of purchased supplies/equipment while maintaining deadlines.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Establish and monitor operating budget for the purchasing group.
  • Prepares performance reviews for department personnel.
  • Assist with cost down effort by optimizing purchased materials and product costs.
  • Review minimum order quantity and part lead times and adjust as needed.
  • Measure and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding vendor performance.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable and shipping/receiving regarding billing or returns to ensure records accuracy.
  • Interface with sales/marketing as required to coordinate required changes to delivery status of committed product.
  • Review open order report daily to ensure vendors meet committed delivery dates.
  • Provide input and participate in review of vendor performance.

    Qualifications

    • Proven track record in a leadership role in supply chain.
    • Well organized and strong ability to pay attention to details.
    • Ability to review and understand technical drawings and specifications.
    • Able to source alternate suppliers for different commodities.
    • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Ability to work without much supervision.

      Education/Experience

      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field from a regionally accredited not-for-profit college or university required.
      • TEN (10) years of experience in purchasing or supply chain.
      • Experience leading a purchasing function preferred.
      • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
      • Proficient understanding of Microsoft products for use in day-to-day activity.
      • Engineering background and hands on experience is a plus.
      • Manufacturing experience is a plus.
      • Must be able to read, comprehend written correspondence and reports.
      • Position requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
      • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
