Job Description:

The IoT Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a high-performing team tasked with the invention, engineering, and support of industry leading products and technologies. This position will work IoT services initiatives in every technical discipline and support new product initiatives as needed. This necessitates understanding the efforts required for firmware, software, mechanical, and electrical engineering acting as a trusted advisor and sounding board for each disciplines subject matter experts. Additionally, this position will work on the Breadware leadership team in conjunction with the other managers.

This position reports to the Director of Managed Solutions and is based in Reno, NV. The salary range for this postion would be $100,000 - $125,000 depending on experience.



Team Management

  • Manage and develop the IoT Engineering Team. Provide on-going supervision and mentoring, and guide them in current positions to assist with their career development and training.
  • Work with team to identify and drive progress on department initiatives and process improvements.
  • Perform four performance check ins per team member per year, documenting and resolving any issues or concerns.
  • Direct problem-solving activities and corrective action for interdepartmental issues and conflict.
  • Determine and communicate manpower needs with the Director of Managed Solutions, as well as leading the selection process for additional human resources.
  • Foster a team culture where it is safe to speak up.

    IoT Consulting Services
    • Collaborate with Sales to evaluate and estimate potential customer projects.
    • Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
    • Participate in the department budgeting process.
    • Provide reports on on-going efforts when required.
    • Manage contractor engagement as needed to ensure project deliverables and milestones are met.
    • Participate in meetings and calls with customers as needed.
    • Escalate project risks to management as needed.

      Internal Product Development
      • Work with the Product Manager to create and maintain product roadmap.
      • Identify and investigate new technologies to integrate into existing and future products.
      • Help to manage product development schedules and resources.

        Company Participation
        • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's strategic initiatives, products, and services.
        • Participate in the Breadware leadership team and provide guidance to company colleagues from an engineering and technology perspective.
        • Collaborate with StoneAge Engineering team to ensure alignment between organizations and shared projects.

          Knowledge And Training Requirements

          The IoT Engineering Manager must:
          • Have prior engineering management or leadership experience in a relevant discipline (software, firmware, electrical, mechanical)
          • Have an in depth understanding of electrical hardware and firmware development, and how to integrate with other disciplines such as software and mechanical components.
          • Prior experience leading a complex, multi-disciplinary product development.
          • Have an engineering degree from accredited 4-year University.
          • Understand Microsoft Office software.

            Other Information
            • Some travel may be required.
            • Responsibilities may require extended working hours beyond normal business hours.
