Summary:
Responsible for assisting the health system in innovation, alignment, strategy, operations, problem solving, policy development and questions of policy as they relate to the medical staff in both hospital and outpatient clinical settings, ever improving clinical quality and patient satisfaction across the entire health system and other health system matters as assigned by the CEO. Coordinates activities of the medical staff, and assures compliance with, state and federal laws, health system policies, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and works closely with the health system CEO and the Vice President of Physician Services for the health system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following:
Directs the quality function of the entire health system which needs to ever improve, including hospitals, clinics, Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and other District entities.
Directs participation in Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) and other Federal/State quality and value-based initiatives.
Manages departments assigned by the CEO, and all medical staff departments, meetings, or committees, with a focus on ever improving function, results and compliance with all policies and regulations. Also responsible for working to ever improve the special culture of this health system across all medical staff settings.
Facilitates rapid resolution of issues between the medical staffs and the health system. Works to assure that our health system makes rapid progress in achieving a top relationship between Administration and the medical staff.
Participates in strategic planning, master space planning, and oversees all departments assigned by the CEO.
Works collaboratively with internal and external coding resources to improve coding of physician services proved by medical staff.
Provides follow-up on implementation of quality improvement actions initiated by the Medical Executive Committee or Administration.
Works closely with Vice President of Physician Services on RHC deployment strategies, quality of care improvements, physician alignment initiatives, patient satisfaction, and introduction of "best practices" into clinic operations, physician recruitment and succession planning.
Works closely with Legal & Compliance on physician productivity, quality and valuation to set compensation levels within fair market value and commercial reasonableness.
Works closely with HR to develop physician job descriptions and accountability for that work including coaching, investigations and discipline.
Directs physician and allied health professional participation in telehealth projects and programs as approved by the CEO.
Oversight of the development and deployment of physician dashboards or other management tools to improve team happiness and results.
Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
Complies with System policies and procedures.
Other duties as may be assigned.
This is a full time exempt management position, estimated hours are 40 to 50 hours per week.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and direction work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:
Medical Doctor Degree or Doctor of Osteopathy Degree with at least 5 years of healthcare practice experience after residency and preferably has at least 3 years of progressive Chief Medical Officer experience that would be relevant for a rural healthcare system.

Must be board certified in area of physician specialty.

Licenses, Certifications:
Required: Must be licensed as a physician in California
Preferred: Licensed in Nevada as a physician
