The Principle Engineer is responsible for ensuring our network infrastructure is designed appropriately to provide IP networks services in cost effective and scalable manner. This includes providing technical leadership to other IP Engineers as necessary.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• 
  
• 
  Provide design input into future enhancements of the network.
  
  
• 
  Provide technical leadership for best practices in deploying IP routing and MPLS solutions.
  
  
• 
  Act as technical leader to the rest of the Network Development team
  
  
• 
  Create network design documentation, analyze, test and implement solutions for the global IP network.
  
  
• 
  Maintain documentation of network and projects, troubleshooting of network and hardware issues.
  
  
• 
  Assist Operations team in development of migration plans after selecting new hardware and software platforms.
  
  
• 
  Ad-hoc projects based on company needs.
  
  
  Education/Qualifications Required
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
    
    Work Experience Required
    
    • 
      
    • 
      10-15 years IP Network Technology experience preferred including experience with Service provider routing and switching technologies, IP routing equipment from Cisco, Juniper, and/or Nokia, UNIX systems (*BSD, Solaris, Linux), programming and scripting (Perl, Python, SQL), optical transmission systems (Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ciena, Adva, etc.), electrical and optical circuit test equipment.

        Good knowledge and experience with network routing protocols including BGP, MPLE-TE, RSVP, IS-IS, etc.

        Able to identify network gaps to immediately address/improve; co-chair with operations team to resolve.

        Has analytical ability to assess business situations and create contingency plans as it relates to network, network equipment, etc.
        
        
      • 
        Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and drive completion among all tasks simultaneously.

          Works with Network Operations to ensure network architecture is adaptive to ongoing operational challenges.

          Works with Capacity Planning to ensure network topology is utilizes available capacity efficiently
