Assistant Professor, Higher Education Leadership at the University of Nevada, Reno - Main Campus Job Description The College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Higher Education Leadership to begin July 1, 2019. The selected individual will conduct an active research and publication program, teach masters and doctoral courses in higher education, provide advising support to graduate students, supervise doctoral dissertations, and provide service for the university and the profession. Minimum Qualifications An earned doctorate in higher education (or relevant fields such as sociology, political science, economics, public policy, and psychology) is required by August 2019. Candidate's expertise should fall within the central areas of teaching and research on higher education with priority to expertise on students (e.g. issues such as retention, diversity, and access). Other areas of expertise could include: community colleges; organization, administration, and governance; policy, finance, and economics; and international. Candidates must show productivity or potential for national prominence through research in peer reviewed journals. Candidates must additionally possess the ability to teach graduate courses related to higher education. Preferred Qualifications While areas of research and teaching are open, the search committee will prioritize candidates with expertise and interest in teaching courses related to undergraduate students, including retention and student development. Other desired qualifications include expertise in quantitative methodologies and an active and sustainable research agenda with the promise of external funding in an area associated with higher education. Compensation Grade Rank II Department Information An integral part of the university aspiring to a RU/VH (very high research activity) Carnegie Classification, the College of Education is a recognized leader in guiding, shaping, and mentoring high-performing education and related professionals who cultivate transformative careers out of their passion to help schools, universities, and students succeed in the 21st century. The selected individual would join a growing program in Education Leadership and have the opportunity to shape the future of the Higher Education Leadership emphasis. Total Compensation The total compensation package includes a negotiable competitive salary, moving expenses (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, long-term disability, annual and sick leave, along with many other benefits.
