Job DescriptionThe University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) is recruiting for an Accountant Technician 1 with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. The individual in this position will be responsible for oversight of UNR Med GME's funding mechanism, which is comprised of an annual budget of over $10 million in billing for trainee activities, and financial reporting of the GME program and coordinating other activities between the GME Office and residency and fellowship programs. This position serves as the key institutional resource to address issues and concerns regarding GME finance topics from affiliated training sites and GME leadership. This position will develop and manage information to support reporting and decision making, manage and improve existing reporting systems. This position will also research broad GME issues and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) rules and regulations in order to maintain compliance, generate necessary reports and identify best practices. The Accountant Technician 1 will also coordinate financial management information for residency/fellowship support with GME leadership and the UNR Med Finance Department, ensure program compliance with GME billing and tracking policies and procedures, including working with and providing training to program coordinators who submit monthly billing data in residency management system, New Innovation. This position will actively participate in annual program allocation expansion/change request process, identifying FTEs per residency program, along with funding sources and other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsGraduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and two years of financial records maintenance experience which includes such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR two years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting.Preferred Qualifications Candidates with knowledge of grants and contracts are encouraged to apply.ScheduleThe typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.Compensation GradeGrade 30 (Step 01 $20.11/hr - Step 03 $21.84/hr)To view the classified compensation schedules, please visit: Classified Compensation.
