Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Office of Information Technology is
currently searching for a Senior Information Security Analyst.
Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Security
Officer, this position works on fulfilling the day to day
operational requirements of the Information Security unit of IT.
This includes being the primary coordinator for responding to cyber
security incidents, managing the systems responsible for tracking
and managing incidents, as well as handling related forensic
investigations and follow up procedures. In addition there are
duties associated with our ongoing vulnerability assessment and
mitigation strategies. This position works closely with other units
in IT to assist in monitoring systems for security events and
provides guidance in improving the overall security posture of the
University. The Senior Information Security Analyst will have
advanced knowledge of enterprise security architecture and the
ability to not only run these enterprise systems but also design
and implement them for Information Security and other units in
IT.
The Senior Analyst would supervise students or other Security
Analysts and would help them develop appropriate Information
security skills. In addition to incident based forensic
investigation the Senior Analyst would also work with the CISO and
General Counsel to assist in litigation holds, data discovery, or
other administrative enquires. This position level would also
assist campus entities in cyber risk assessments and remediation
procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree and four (4) years of related professional
experience OR
Master's degree and two (2) years of related professional
experience. Completed credits or certificate program with more
years of related work experience may be considered as an
equivalent.
Related Experience: Experience in cyber security incident
management, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment, penetration
testing, computer and network forensics; performing risk assessment
and implementing mitigation strategies; supervision of an incident
response team or group and reporting and presentation of cyber
security risks and mitigation strategies or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
CISSP Certification (Certified Information Systems Security
Professional) or CISA certification (Certified Information Systems
Auditor)
Compensation Grade
The typical/budgeted salary range for this position is $48,525 -
$80,875
Salary is based on related education and experience, internal
equity and budgets.

Department Information
Information Security is responsible for all aspects of digital
information and system protection for the University campus and
affiliated entities. This unit engages with the different
administrative areas and academic departments to assist in managing
security procedures and policies. It manages the incident response,
business continuity, vulnerability monitoring and other information
security related processes. In addition, it oversees the
centralized identity management system on campus.
