DescriptionThe University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an
Accountant or Project Accountant for the Facilities Services
Department. The Accountant, under the supervision of the Manager of
Accounting Services, is responsible for providing accounting
services for a specified program, generally one or more of the
following: Facilities Maintenance Services Accounting, Campus
Utility Accounting, Salary and Wage Accounting, Construction
Project Accounting and Parking and Transportation Accounting. The
Project Accountant, under the supervision of the Manager of
Accounting, is responsible for providing accounting services for
one or more specified programs and additionally provides project
accounting services for assigned mid-level capital
projects.Responsibilities include, but are not limited
to:AccountantResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
accurately maintain a specialized sub-ledger or accounting system
to ensure accurate budgeting, recording and tracking of all
revenue, purchases, and payments for assigned program(s); ensure
that obligations and payments are accurately processed and
recorded; create and maintain data analytics to provide trending,
estimating and projection records; collaborate with Facilities
Services personnel and campus departments as needed regarding
program funding, accuracy of budgets and transactions, and changes
in policies and procedures; provide updates and respond to
questions about specialized programs; provide updates and
consultation on the status of funds, restrictions, methods of
payment, budget limitations and shortfalls; provide monthly reports
on program budgets versus actual expenses; and ensure compliance
with all applicable state, university, and accounting rules,
regulations, policies and procedures.Project
AccountantResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:all of
the responsibilities as described for the Accountant position
above; maintain the project accounting for assigned capital
construction projects; prepare retainage interest calculation,
project funding and expenditure reports; maintain a specialized
sub-ledger or accounting system to ensure accurate budgeting,
recording and tracking of all revenue, purchases, and payments for
assigned area(s); and other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate
will possess: strong organizational and multitasking skills
including the ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines;
ability to work independently and as part of a team; intermediate
to advance Excel skills including the ability to create
spreadsheets which include formulas and pivot tables; excellent
verbal and written skills, intermediate knowledge of accounting,
forecasting, budgeting, cost accounting principles and processes
including AR, AP and account reconciliation; ability to understand
and interpret formalized policies, guidelines, rules and
regulations; ability to gain an understanding of complex issues and
analyze complex data; explain complex processes and procedures; and
write reports, business correspondence and procedures; knowledge of
higher education accounting and business procedures; fund
accounting and budgeting concepts; and financial and accounting
internal control standards.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree
and two (2) years of related work experience; ORMaster's Degree and
one (1) year of related work experienceRelated Experience: In
general accounting, project accounting, cost accounting, and/or
utility accounting or related.A valid Class "C" driver's license or
higher operator's license is required within 30 days of
appointment.Preferred QualificationsCandidates with the following
certifications are encouraged to apply: Certified Management
Accountant (CMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Candidates

and Travel RequirementsThe typical work schedule is Monday through
Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on
organizational needs.This position is subject to occasional
travel.This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the

campus safety or building operations, this position may be required
to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.Compensation
