General Summary: The Staff Accountant records, monitors and analyzes general ledger accounts. The person in this position assists with the preparation of financial reports and analysis of results as well as, performs account reconciliation and analysis. Under the direction of the Accounting manager, the Staff Accountant will ensures accuracy in accordance with GAAP, STAT, regulatory filing requirements and company policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares and books journal entries and adjustments
• Prepares reconciliations of accounts assigned
• Assists in the preparation of GAAP financial statements for all entities
• Assists in preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements
• Analysis of financial information
• Manages reporting compliance with various state and federal regulations
• Documents processes and procedures.
• Assist with internal and external auditor questions
• Other duties may be assigned. Job Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Experience with automated General Ledger programs
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Good organization skills with ability to multitask effectively
  • Good problem solving and analytic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience performing general ledger account reconciliations and analysis and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance accounting
  • Experience preparing Insurance statutory filing schedules
  • Statutory & GAAP accounting experience
  • Experience using Oracle Financials particularly General Ledger
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed above. HP22 Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000
