We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Finance Team. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will oversee and process payroll ensuring payroll is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position will work closely with the members of the Finance Team and provide back-up support for all finance related job duties. About the Position Compile payroll data, enter data, compute and post wage, and reconcile errors to maintain payroll records. Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Calculate and process Federal and State tax and social security withholdings, other deductions, insurance, benefits, 401(k) contributions and company match. Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee. Assist in preparing periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions. Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests. Ensure that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with policies and procedures. Perform actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay, and factors or bonuses into an employee's salary. Maintain knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and make updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Responsible for prevailing wage compliance (California and Nevada). Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures. Technical/Professional Knowledge Associate or Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred; and or a combination of equivalent experience and education. Certified Payroll Professional certification, preferred. At least three years of related experience required and knowledge of certified payroll processing, preferred. Basic understanding of both state and federal employment laws. Ability to work hours necessary to complete work within required time frames with regard to deadlines. Ability to adapt to a fast paced constantly evolving business and work environment while managing multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook). Knowledge and experience using Deltek Vision and OnePoint/Kronos (HRIS) payroll software is preferred, but not required. Valid driver's license and able to pass driving record check.
