Qualifications
 
The Network Engineer will be responsible for participating as an individual contributor in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation, and implementing existing products and services. Interface with vendors, other engineering groups, and network operation team. Acts in compliance with industry and company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures. Provides technical leadership to technicians and project teams. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

• A STRONG IP background will be the most defining quality the candidate should possess.
• Provides guidance and recommended solutions to complex technical issues.
• Assist operation groups as needed during test and turn up of projects.
• Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas, and provides actionable insight to management.
• Provides input to Engineering group and vendors on defects and required enhancements.
• Contributes to design considerations for new products or architectural changes to existing products. Assists with or leads efforts to build new application infrastructure, coordinating efforts across teams.
• Serves as lead on multiple projects and ability to effectively prioritize those projects so that due dates are met.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Reports for work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record

 
Qualifications
 

• 
  

• Must have a strong IP background.
• Experience with DSLAM or CMTS technologies.
• Knowledge of ADSL, SHDSL, HDSL2/4 characteristics
• Knowledge of routing protocols
• Experience with supporting and maintaining LAN/ WAN network architectures
• Knowledge of Ethernet technologies
• Knowledge of AC / DC power plant
• Knowledge of DACs and Multiplexers
• Knowledge of Outside Plant designs and architectures
• Experience with TDM/ATM/VoIP technologies
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP and SSL protocols
• Good documentation and communication skills
• Advanced degree and 5-7 or more years' experience in respective discipline.
• Collaborative with excellent communication skills.  Able to do well in a corporate environment.
• IP knowledge basic to advanced
• Networking (LAN, WAN, Routing) basic to advanced
• Cisco IOS – basic to advanced
• Cisco Certifications – CCNA or CCNP
• Telephony knowledge (TDM, SONET, VOIP)
• DSL or Ethernet or TCP/IP protocol knowledge
